Out of the Ordinary: On Poetry and the World is a three-day conference on poetry and poetics to be held over 5th to 7th December 2022, at the University of Canberra. The conference investigates poetry's relationship to the extraordinary.

Keynote events will include a panel on poetry in the light of ordinary language philosophy, a “collideorscape,” with mini-lectures and readings, of Finnegans Wake in the centre of the National Capital, and a keynote series of readings by major contemporary poets.

Attendees will be asked to submit proof of travel offsetting, as one plank (alongside carbon-neutral catering, public transport, low energy accommodation and paper eradication) in the conference’s strategy of achieving Climate Active certification as a Carbon Neutral Event.
